Call Readiness Coach
It pressure tests your preparation for the conversations that decide things, before the conversation happens.
This is the first Systems Detective open skill. It is a single copy-paste prompt you run inside any AI chat. It does not hand you a list of questions to memorise. It asks one question, reads your answer, names the weak spot, and either advances or makes you answer the same question more clearly. The method is empathy engineering: understand the pressure on the other side of the table before you decide what to say.
Repeatable preparation that survives follow-up
Most preparation is rehearsal of a story you already believe. This skill turns preparation into a drill you can repeat for any high-stakes conversation. You get a sourced brief on the other side, a single matched claim or proof point, a story or plan spine, three to five levels of why, your real failures and the one place you would stall, and a final readiness pack you can rehearse against. The output is not a polished fantasy. It is a defensible account of what you actually did, with the gaps marked honestly instead of papered over.
Anyone walking into a conversation that matters
- Professionals preparing to explain why their real experience fits a role and a business problem.
- Freelancers and consultants preparing for a discovery or qualification call without a generic pitch.
- Founders and operators preparing for an advisory conversation where the diagnosis is not yet known.
- Delivery leads preparing for a client kickoff after the agreement is signed.
The same discipline, aimed at three situations
Job Interview Mode
Connect real experience to the role gap and the business pain, without claiming private company facts.
Prospect Discovery Mode
Connect your offer and proof to operational pain, while the pain stays a hypothesis until the call confirms it.
Client Onboarding Mode
Turn ambiguity into explicit scope, owners, access, acceptance, and change rules before delivery starts.
The conversation is the test
You can rehearse a confident answer that falls apart on the second question. The cost of that is not embarrassment, it is the opportunity itself. This skill refuses the four habits that quietly sink high-stakes conversations: oversharing what damages you, hiding your own work behind the word "we", replacing mechanisms with buzzwords, and burying the point in a long wind-up. It also refuses the comfortable hero story. If nothing ever failed, the coach does not believe you, and it makes you find the real correction. Evidence over narrative, ownership over the collective, the honest unknown over the confident guess.
An AI chat and five minutes of honesty
You need access to any capable AI chat and the prompt itself. You do not need an account with Systems Detective, a login, or any private tooling. Everything that runs the skill is in the public files below. The only real requirement is that you answer the questions honestly, because the coach can only sharpen what you actually bring.
Paste it, or install it as a skill
- Open a new AI chat.
- Copy all of
CALL-READINESS-COACH.mdand paste it as your first message. - Pick one of the three modes and answer one question at a time.
- When the coach flags an answer, answer it again more tightly instead of arguing with the flag.
- Save the final readiness pack and rehearse the follow-up questions it predicts.
Prefer it always on hand? The repository ships the same prompt as an installable skill for Claude and for Codex, so the coach is available without pasting anything.
Everything is public
It is a drill, not a script
- Not for inventing experience you do not have. It sharpens real evidence and refuses to fabricate proof, pain, or agreement.
- Not for casual conversations where the stakes are low and a drill would be friction for its own sake.
- Not a replacement for the actual research on the company, prospect, or client. It works on what you bring to it.
- Not a confidence machine. If your preparation is thin, the coach will show you exactly where, which is the point.
The first of the Systems Detective open skills
Call Readiness Coach is the first in a planned set of open skills: small, sharp, evidence-disciplined prompt systems that do one repeatable job well and stay free to use and adapt. As more of them become public, they will gather into a proper directory. For now, this one stands on its own. If it is useful, the others will be too.
Most client work stays private by default. These open skills are the part of the method that can be shown, used, and pressure tested by anyone. Start a conversation →
